Id Requirement

Unpaid time off required, first two hours that polls are open. Must give notice before day of election.

Early Voting

Vote Early in Massachusetts! Bay Staters can vote in-person before election day! If you'll be out of town on March 3 or simply find it more convenient, vote early!

Early voting in Massachusetts begins January 1 and ends on January 1.

If you are a college student not living in your home state, you can vote for Bernie in either your home state or in the state in which you are attending school!

District Delegates (59) District level Alternates (8)

  • Make sure you are a registered Democrat
  • Determine the congressional district where you are registered
  • Start organizing your friends and supporters to vote for you.
  • File Statement of Candidacy and Pledge of Support by March 27, 2020 with the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, 11 Beacon St. Suite 410, Boston, MA 02108 or by a scan with a signature emailed to [email protected]
  • District Delegates are elected at 1 pm at the April 25, 2020 Congressional District Caucuses
  • Show up with your supporters to vote in the April 25, 2020 caucus in your district. All Democratic voters who registered as a democrat before February 12, 2020 are eligible to vote for the District Delegate candidates that filed by March 27, 2020. You can give a 2 minute speech and distribute flyers. It’s a campaign!
  • Note: The State Party Committee members select At Large and PLEO delegates. Some State Party Committee member positions are either elected on the Primary Ballot or at an April 4, 2020 open meeting that is well publicized. This is not yet determined. Bernie supporters should try to find out the filing requirements and procedures and get on the State Party Committee.

At Large Delegates (20) 

  • If you did not get elected as a District delegate you can try to become an At Large Delegate or an Alternate delegate.
  • File Statement of Candidacy and Pledge of Support by April 17, 2020 with the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, 11 Beacon St. Suite 410, Boston, MA 02108 or by a scan with a signature emailed to [email protected]
  • At-Large and Alternate delegates are elected by the Massachusetts State Party Committee at an open meeting at 10:00 am on May 16, 2020.

PLEO Delegates (12)

You have to be eligible to be a PLEO delegate. PLEOs are eligible according to the following priority: big city mayors and state-wide elected officials (to be given equal consideration); state legislative leaders, state legislators, and other state, county and local elected officials and party leaders. Help Bernie by encouraging qualified Bernie supporting people to file to become PLEO delegates.

  • File Statement of Candidacy and Pledge of Support by April 17, 2020 with the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee, 11 Beacon St. Suite 410, Boston, MA 02108 or by a scan with a signature emailed to [email protected]
  • PLEO delegates are elected by the Massachusetts State Party Committee at an open meeting at 10:00 am on May 16, 2020.

Standing Committee (12) and Delegation Chair

12 Standing Committee members (4 each on the Credentials, Platform and Rules committees) and the Delegation Chair are elected by a quorum of Massachusetts’ National Convention Delegates on May 16,, 2020. You don’t have to be a delegate or alternate to be elected.
