At long last — The number of States who have yet to lay claim on a day to hold their Presidential Primary or Caucus is down to only 8. On July 23rd, 2015, The New York State Senate has signed the bill, designating April 19, 2016 as the date for the upcoming New York Primary.
VoteForBernie.org has been updated to reflect this change, so share it with your fellow New Yorkers to let them know about the change. Far too few already vote in the primaries, and not being able to vote in an election you wanted to vote in is a terrible feeling I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Remember — New York has Closed Primaries, which means that if you are not registered as a Democrat, you cannot vote for Bernie Sanders! And there’s even worse news. New York’s voting laws are very unique when it comes to updating registration. From the research we’ve been able to do, it looks like the deadline to change your registration is this year on October 9th, far earlier than any other state.
Here are some resources to help:
- Are you registered to vote, and if so, as what? Look up voter profile
- Not registered? Register to vote online!
